The role of adding steel fiber to refractory castables

The main functions of adding steel fiber to refractory castables are:
(1) Enhance toughness, improve stress-strain resistance, and improve mechanical impact resistance.
(2) Improve thermal shock resistance, cracking and peeling resistance.
(3) Suppress thread shrinkage after curing, drying and heat treatment.
The addition amount of steel fiber is generally 0.6~2.5% (volume ratio). Steel fibers have different grades depending on the elements they contain, such as chromium, nickel, etc. Its specifications include: equivalent diameter 0.4, 0.5, 0.6mm; length 20, 25, 30mm.
