The role of steel fiber in concrete has been increasingly valued and has been widely used in various engineering projects such as roads, tunnels, airport runways, industrial floors and water conservancy. Its main function is to improve the crack resistance, impact resistance, fatigue strength and wear resistance of concrete.


Steel fiber can effectively inhibit the expansion of micro cracks caused by shrinkage, temperature difference and other factors in the early and late stages of concrete, thereby enhancing the overall durability and stability of the structure.

 

At present, the research on the reinforcement mechanism of steel fiber concrete mainly focuses on composite material theory and fiber spacing theory. However, neither of them has fully revealed the mechanism of action of steel fiber in concrete.


Composite material theory emphasizes the improvement of the overall mechanical properties of steel fiber as a reinforcing material to the matrix material, but ignores its bridging effect and crack extension retardation at the crack tip, that is, it does not fully consider the crack resistance and coupling effect of steel fiber on the matrix.


The fiber spacing theory mainly focuses on the influence of fiber distribution spacing on crack control, but ignores the synergistic effect and load transfer capacity of the fiber itself in the process of microcrack formation.

 

Therefore, scientific analysis of the reinforcement mechanism of steel fiber in concrete should comprehensively consider factors such as its physical distribution, mechanical properties, and interfacial bonding strength with the cement matrix.


By optimizing the fiber type, length, dosage, and distribution method, its comprehensive effects such as crack resistance, toughness enhancement, and ductility improvement can be maximized, thereby further expanding the application prospects of steel fiber concrete in high-performance engineering structures.
