Application Of Steel Fiber in Concrete
Jan 12, 2024| Early cracks in concrete are mostly caused by shrinkage strain and thermal strain generated by hydration heat before and after initial setting, water loss during drying. 2/3 of concrete stress comes from temperature changes, and 1/3 comes from dry shrinkage and wet expansion. Steel fiber is a new, high-performance variety of steel fiber that has good applications in concrete because of its role.
1. The role of steel fiber
Although steel fiber has been around for a short time, its applications have become more and more widespread and there are more and more types. Steel fiber is an excellent crack-resistant material. The current application fields include road and bridge engineering, construction engineering, water conservancy engineering, port engineering, railway engineering, tunnels, underground spaces, etc. Its excellent performance can achieve good technical, economic and social environmental benefits.
2. Application of steel fiber in concrete
Steel fiber concrete is a new multi-phase composite material formed by adding three-dimensional randomly distributed short steel fibers into ordinary concrete. These randomly distributed steel fibers can effectively hinder the expansion of micro-cracks and the formation of macro-cracks inside the concrete, significantly improving the tensile, bending, impact resistance and fatigue resistance of the concrete, and have good ductility.
Steel fiber concrete has the same mixing, operation and construction performance as ordinary concrete. The fibers will not ball up in the concrete and are evenly distributed. It can be produced in commercial concrete mixing stations and used in pumping construction. Steel fiber concrete has good material properties. Compared with ordinary concrete, its compressive strength is increased by 2~20%; bending and tensile strength is increased by 20~50%; splitting tensile strength is increased by 20~40%; wear resistance is increased by 40 About %, its physical and mechanical properties can fully meet the technical requirements of urban road engineering and inspection manhole covers and other supporting components. The rough and clean surface of steel fibers can firmly bond with the cement paste in concrete.
