1. Characteristics of PP fiber
PP fiber, also known as polypropylene fiber, is a synthetic fiber made by polymerization of propylene. It has many significant characteristics:

1. Light weight: PP fiber is the lightest of all chemical fibers, with a density of only 0.90-0.92g/cm³, 20% lighter than nylon, 30% lighter than polyester, and 40% lighter than viscose fiber. This feature makes it very suitable as a filling for winter clothing or a fabric for ski suits, mountaineering suits, etc.

2. High strength: PP fiber has high strength, similar to that of polyester and nylon. At the same time, it has good wear resistance and resilience, and its rebound rate is comparable to that of nylon and wool. This makes PP fiber an ideal material for manufacturing products such as fishing nets and cables.

3. Chemical corrosion resistance: PP fiber has good stability to chemicals and is resistant to corrosive substances such as acid, alkali, and salt. Therefore, it has a wide range of applications in chemical, medical and other fields.

3. The difference between PP fiber and steel fiber
Steel fiber and PP fiber have their unique role in improving the performance of concrete, but their mechanism and effect are different:

1. Mechanism of action: PP fiber mainly improves the impact and fatigue resistance of concrete by eliminating or reducing the number and size of primary cracks. Steel fiber restricts crack expansion and improves the bearing capacity of concrete through its high elastic modulus and strong load transfer capacity.

2. Use effect: Although steel fiber cannot effectively eliminate primary cracks when the number is relatively small, its high elastic modulus makes it an ideal material for withstanding vehicle impact, and can diffuse stress within a larger plate range and reduce local stress concentration. PP fiber plays an advantage in specific application scenarios with its light weight, high strength and good chemical corrosion resistance.
