- Product Introduction
For many years, steel fiber reinforced concrete was used primarily in nonstructural applications such as industrial flooring and shotcrete. This is because, at conventional fiber dosages, steel fiber reinforced concrete exhibits semi-ductile, strain softening post-cracking behavior. The range of applications for steel fiber reinforced concrete has been significantly broadened due to the development of new fibers with better performance. Today, steel fibers can be used as the sole reinforcement or in combination with conventional reinforcement such as rebar, wire mesh or precast bars. In all these applications, the use of steel fibers helps control and reduce shrinkage cracks and enables steel fiber reinforced concrete elements to reach full ductility, even though ordinary concrete is a brittle material.
Designed to provide long-term performance and superior concrete crack control in demanding industrial applications, concrete steel fibers are designed to reinforce concrete in the hardened state and shotcrete. Industrial concrete floor systems are often required to operate under strong load conditions, including point loads from frame legs and dynamic loads from vehicular traffic. The uniform distribution of steel fibers throughout the concrete mix transforms the concrete into a more ductile composite material, thereby improving the energy absorption capacity, long-term durability and overall performance of the slab.
Main Features
Mechanical Properties
High-strength steel fibers offer superior mechanical properties compared to conventional concrete. They are known to improve the flexural strength, toughness and fatigue resistance of concrete structures. This is achieved through their ability to control and reduce the size and propagation of cracks within the concrete matrix.
Durability
The addition of steel fibers to concrete improves its durability to environmental factors such as freeze-thaw cycles, chemical attack and abrasion. This makes high-strength steel fiber reinforced concrete ideal for long-term infrastructure projects
Versatility
Steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) can be used in a variety of construction applications, including roads, bridges, buildings and industrial structures. Its versatility enables innovative design solutions and improves the performance of critical load-bearing elements
