It is as if there was no joint. The unique sine wave geometry completely eliminates any potential impact from wheeled traffic. Continuous load transfer is achieved through the sine-cosine geometry.
Why need the armour joint system?
All buildings and their structural elements are subject to stresses which cause movements, deformations and dimensional changes. To control and prevent these stresses, the medium and large buildings are built by blocks, so that each block works individually and does not hit the adjacent block.
Between these blocks some spaces are left as expansion joints. The location and width of these spaces are determined by structural engineers, who also will determine the load capacity of the profile selected.
An armour joint is a space that crosses the whole structure of the building: floors, walls, facades and ceilings.
The structural expansion joints absorb the movements of the building to control and prevent from the apparition of different pathologies in the structure.
