The introduction of steel fibers into concrete mixtures provides new mechanical properties. We now have a new material with improved mechanical properties that could enhance structural applications. The fiber can be used as a replacement for, or as a complement to, regular steel bars, or to achieve better performance in strains that regular steel bars cannot absorb. Microsteel fibers are used as admixtures or aggregates in concrete, also known as brass-coated microsteel fibers or microsteel bars, and are widely used in concrete reinforcement bars and concrete slabs.
Steel fiber concrete is widely used in the following applications:
- Highway bridges: pavement, bridge pavement, bridge arch, continuous box girder laying.
- Hydraulic dams: industrial floors, hydraulic tunnel linings, water erosion wear parts, hydraulic gates, hydraulic sluice channels, aqueducts, dams and seawater penetration panels.
- Railway: prestressed sleepers, double block sleepers.
- Port and marine engineering: steel column corrosion layer, dock facilities, submarine concrete facilities.
- Tunnel and mining engineering: hydraulic tunnel lining, mine tunnel, highway and railway tunnel lining.
- Pipeline engineering: centrifugal tubes, vibrating tubes, extruded tubes, pump tubes, steel-lined steel fiber concrete pressure pipes.
