If a vehicle passes through a straight joint at 90°, there is a risk of impact damage. This is because the wheel can drop momentarily into the gap between the two straight edges of the joint. Repeated impacts on sawn joints or even straight armored joints can damage the surrounding concrete, leading to maintenance costs and downtime.

Profiled joint edges (Wawe or Sinus Slide) have no straight lines, so the wheel cannot fall between the sides and therefore no collision can occur. Profiled joints are therefore ideal for directional traffic situations or if the building owner wants to ensure flexibility in how the building will be used in the future.

The Free Movement Armored Joint System offers the best practical and technical solution for today's high-quality concrete subslabs. The system ensures full load transfer in expansion, contraction and construction joints and eliminates resistance to the opening and movement of the joint in both directions on the horizontal plane. The system also provides extremely durable edge protection for the concrete slab, especially when subjected to traffic.

Load transfer is achieved via high-strength steel plate pins, which, in combination with rigid release sleeves, allow the slab to move freely in both longitudinal and vertical directions, eliminating the main cause of shrinkage cracks.

The Armoured Seam System can also be used as a stand-alone retention formwork that does not need to be stripped after pouring, saving considerable time and labour.

Using this system means faster and simpler slab construction, better quality floors and maintenance-free joints. They can be used for ground-supported or suspended slabs starting from 100mm thickness.
